Humanity has been struggling with fire ever since it was discovered. fire is a major threat, especially for crowded cities and metropolises. In these days we are wasting most of our times in buildings, factories and skytowers. According to IBC (International Building Codes), every building has different identical and different services. Most of these building has expansion joints which are the most dynamic places in buildings. These expansion joints allow buildings to movement while under the impact of earthquake, wind forces and thermal expansion without damage. We have to choose the most suitable material for expansion joint gaps according to technicial drawings in order to provide fire insulation for expansion joints. For that reason according to fire rating of building, fire insulation materials have to provide the same movement capacity with specified movement capacity of expansion joint profiles. We must take serious the fire insulation otherwise we most probably face with unexpectable results.

 

As ARFEN we have two type products for fire solution. Each product has different aim for different details. I will explain general features of these products in the below titles.

- ARFENROPE is the fire rating product made by mineralwool and special fire insulation rope which provides A1 class fire rating and has 4 hours resistance period. Arfenrope suitable for gap size under 150mm. Applicable for vertical and horizontal gaps.

- Fire blanket “FS models” is a solution for joints over 50mm. It has maden from ceramic wool and special fire resistant fabric which has huge movement capacity and 1 hours insulation an 3 hours integrity. Also applicable for vertical and horizontal gaps.

Another issue that should not be missed is workmanship of fire insulation materials. Even you choose the correct material for your expansion joints we have to control the every steps of installation in order to avoid mortal mistakes.
